At Esteros del Iberá Lodge, we are committed to the restoration of local ecosystems. As part of our reforestation efforts, we are removing an old eucalyptus plantation that was introduced in the region to replace it with native species. This restoration process aims to recover the native forest that once thrived in the area, creating more suitable habitats for local wildlife.
Reforestation not only enhances biodiversity but also contributes to soil regeneration and the preservation of species that depend on these ecosystems. The wildlife that was displaced by monoculture plantations will be able to return to its natural habitat and coexist once again with native flora, helping to balance the ecosystem sustainably. Our reserve is also a paradise for birds, with dozens of species registered in our cameras and observations. From the vibrant chaja to the striking red-capped and black-capped jote, the great woodpecker, and the pirinchos, our wetlands are home to a diverse array of bird species. These sightings reflect the biodiversity we are committed to protecting and highlight the success of our conservation efforts in preserving the Iberá wetlands.
In addition to these incredible bird species, our reserve is home to a variety of wildlife, including howler monkeys that fill the mornings with their calls, yacarés, capybaras, and curiyú boas in the lagoon, as well as deer and yaguarundisobserved through camera traps. The biodiversity we encounter every day is a testament to the importance of our ongoing conservation work.
